Greetings from the Bush Babies!

Greetings from the Bush Babies! It’s been another exhausting, yet exhilarating, day of labor in the Mexican Wilderness. We are now on day three of our adventure to Rancho Sordo Mudo in Mexico (pronounced Meh-He-Ko).  The ranch is a school for deaf children of all ages who are blessed to learn sign language in a Christian environment.  On the first day, Joshua students were sorted into work teams.  Only FEW were elected into the bush to become Bush Babies.  We had the important task of clearing out the brush on a nearby hill that surrounded Rancho Sordo Mudo’s water source.  It included raking, hoeing, shoveling, clipping, dancing, and singing. The leader of the Bush Babies was the infamous Dallas Dewitt, or Papa Bush Baby, a well-known singer/song writer. Throughout the day, the Babies fought through bushes and brambles of every flavor and size.  Sometimes the cost was painful; bee stings, scratches, scorpion attacks and even beatings from Papa Bush Baby.  Despite the rigorous task ahead of us, the Babies were determined to get the job done. When the day was through, we had cleared the whole hillside with spectacular poise and grace (you know how we do.) In conclusion, the Bush Babies have had a great first couple days of work in Mexico, which ended in a phenomenal dirt dance party. In all seriousness, Joshua’s time here in Mexico has been amazing. God has been showing us all sorts of things through serving and playing with the kids. Pray that these next couple of days would truly impact the hearts of the Joshua students.
