About Joshua
Rich Ferreira Director
After graduating with his Masters in Theology from Talbot Seminary, Rich and his wife Becky began working full-time for Hume Ministries in 2001. Rich’s passions are discipleship and teaching God’s word in a way that brings it alive in today’s world. In his spare time, Rich enjoys international travel (especially Israel), motorcycle riding, off-roading and spending time with his wife, daughter Ellie and son Jaron.
Jen Manlief Student Life Advisor
Jen grew up in Mesa, Arizona, later attending Southwestern Bible College for her degree in Christian Ministries. She has spent the last eight years in Walnut Creek, California, where she's worked with Young Life, an interdenominational Christian outreach to high school and middle school students. Jen is passionate about living out Christ in her life and discipling through relationship. In her free time, she manages a coffeehouse, reads, enjoys a crossword and a cup of coffee or takes road trips to Santa Cruz.
Kelsey Garner Female Resident Director
After graduating from the Joshua Wilderness Institute, Kelsey attended a few different universities until she eventually moved up to Portland, Oregon to join a church plant from Cornerstone Simi Valley while attending George Fox University. Most recently, Kelsey has finished her degree in International Studies and Business and has been spending her time traveling Asia researching NGOs. Kelsey is passionate about social justice, traveling, different cultures, good friends, enjoyable music, spending time in parks, and Portland. She enjoys a good book and a good laugh, and is excited to be back in the Hume community at Joshua.
Josh Coffey Male Resident Director
Josh just graduated from Biola University with a degree in Biblical Studies. He hopes to go into youth ministry and work towards a Masters of Divinity. He grew up in a big family of six kids in Lake Arrowhead, California. He enjoys playing sports and traveling to places such as Kenya, Scotland, England, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Israel, his favorite. He went to The Joshua Wilderness Program after high school in 2003-2004 and is now excited to return and serve as the male RD.
Paul Dixon Cook
Paul grew up in Placerville, California and has been coming to Hume since 1990. He is a graduate of the Joshua Wilderness Institute class of 06-07. He has been serving at Hume Lake for the past 4 years. In places such as Wildwood, Joshua, and Ponderosa dish room. In his spare time, you can find him spending time with his soon to be wife Sarah, and going on all sorts of adventures with students.
Karissa Collie Cook
Karissa has been attending Columbia College for two years with a goal of becoming a nurse. One of her passions is serving in the medical field. She took a break from school to attend the Joshua Wilderness Institute where she was asked to stay on as staff for another year. For fun she likes to sit outside with a good book, go swimming, or take a nap.
